Pathfinder - Lanius

I was out hunting today when I came across a sight most odd. Several other people had struck down my prey before I could and were enjoying the catfish. A pack of semi intelligent locals appeared then, drawn to the scent of the kill and the elf was struck by one of their paralyzing spears. The dwarf in the group tossed this elf to the locals and the locals carried him off. The elf returned later, a bit annoyed, so all was well. I enjoyed a bit of the catfish that the group had killed as they told me their story.

It would appear that there are people inhabiting the elven city to the south once more, a lovely story if there ever was one and these people were on their way to conduct a ritual. I decided to join them and enjoyed a bit of an adventure with them on the way. There were two goblins with the group, one to conduct the ritual, the other to be the sacrifice for the ritual. Like most sacrifices that I have seen he was not happy about this but there was little he could do for he was missing quite a bit of his body.

There was a small side adventure when the two goblins got kidnapped but we easily retrieved them and then we went to the plane where the God of the Hunt resided. There were tracks of quite some size going one way so we went the other way and came across another party of explorers. It quickly came apparent that it would be in our best interests to work together and so we all set off to find this beast whose tracks we had seen earlier. The beast was quite intimidating and we lost all of the other party in the process but we ended up killing it. The dwarf scored a particularly great blow against it and the beast chased around the elf a lot.

We came back from the plane of the hunt only to find that the goblin shaman was dead and went in pursuit of the perpetrator. The four of us quickly came to a cave and after a compulsion place upon the entrance went into effect the other three ran away while I proved to be the only one able to resist it. Before fleeing however, the dwarf threw in an explosive and the hag living inside was not happy about this. She set snakes of some sort after the three fleeing but not I for I had hidden myself well after seeing what the dwarf was doing. They mostly got away, with only the dwarf being forced to take measures. He cut off his leg to escape the vines and then made quite a masterful peg leg to replace it. He states that he has plans to replace it with a axe.

I took a bit of time exploring the city then when we got back and have also been informed that a campaign will be happening into the hinterlands against the orcs. This is exciting news. I’ve always wished to do something about those orcs and now there is an imperial campaign that I can ride along with. It will be interesting to see how far we can get. Probably not very far with just these goblins but maybe there will be others along for the campaign. I have not been told much right now.

Pathfinder - Ralen Bek

It was an interesting day to say the least. I received a notice from the people to the south for a bounty of two thousand gold in exchange for the proof of the death of one Lord Bearington, a bear who had cleverly disguised himself as a bear for many years. I agreed to go after it with the others and then I sent the dwarf to deal with a squatter problem. Somehow he did not kill them all and let them take up residence in the southern portion of the city.

With that dealt with the dwarf, the rogue, and I set off to deal with this Lord. There was a minor incident with some bounty hunters on the way there that caused us to become separated from the landshark. The bounty hunters were wiped out by Sprinkles. We tracked the bulette then and found him at a gnome residence. It had decided to eat their milking cow, an event which had put the family into a bit of a panic. We calmed down the bulette and the family of gnomes. The gnomes then decided to run away with their horse and carriage. The dwarf chased them on the bulette, lost control of the bulette again and it decided to eat the horse. The gnomes then fled on foot.

We rested for the night in the gnomes mostly ruined house. I awoke to find the house on fire and exited it to encounter a group of orcs from the south outside. We chatted and as they had the same goal as us we teamed up and headed west. The rest of the journey was easy with only a merchant being on the path heading the other way. We arrived at our destination and apparently decided to toss aside all attempts at strategy as we all just walked up to the castle.

The rogue vanished up the walls while the dwarf and I destroyed everything in our path, wiping out the gate guards and the courtyard guards. We entered the guardhouse to find the captain dead at the hands of some orc barbarian who we awoke and pointed towards our target. With the keys that we found in the guardhouse we gained access to the castle and found that the rogue had already been busy. Apparently he had slipped a hallucinogen into the drink of our target and he went on a killing spree then, a killing spree that his cousin joined in on.

I calmed down those that were still fighting and questioned Bearington’s cousin and the others as to what had happened. The rogue came down then and told us that Bearington was escaping on a griffon construct. I took to the sky and with two explosive arrows shot him down. We went back to the castle and after we went through the castle the rogue and the dwarf set it on fire.

They both jumped out of the castle as the fire had spread far faster than anticipated. The rogue was fine but the dwarf lost most of his beard and apparently the jewel that was making his beard alive as the castle soon staggered to life. The castle went on a killing rampage and we all ran away quickly.

Needless to say, Mitra was less than pleased with all of this and I have lost my powers. I think I’ll take this as a sign that I need to leave or perhaps to stop associating with these people openly. I think that I shall still provide guidance to these goblins and hire the others. Undoubtedly they will find another person to accompany them. I will have to consult with the other paladins as to what to do.

Pathfinder - Ralen Bek

Matters are well in hand at the moment though I feel a bit tired. We have thoroughly secured the city now with an excursion to the caves that lie below the city. We encountered a young bulette down there and found an elven cathedral down there. There was a protector of the cathedral, a construct of some sort that was destroyed by itself in an attempt to bodyslam the elf in our group. This was undoubtedly due to the rogue disabling portions of it before it activated.

We proceeded onward then, and came to two rooms, one that had numerous coffins in it, one of which held the founder of the city. He tasked with retrieving a cairn of some sort from the south. Apparently it has fallen into orc hands. The other room held a pond that responded to magic. Everything in it was dead when we entered but with the application of some magic everything burst to life and it became clear to us that the first people of this city were a bit odd as there was an octopus in the pond now. The dwarf threw in the elf in and in response I had Sprinkles throw in the dwarf.

The elf got out while the dwarf experienced some difficulty in doing the same no doubt due to his full plate armor. Well, that and the octopus attacking him. I threw my bead of force at the octopus and walked away to see where the third hallway went. The dwarf soon joined us, undoubtedly joining his very wet existence. We continued down the third hallway and came to another pond. As the last one had an octopus in it we skirted around the edge and came to an underground forest where more elves apparently lived.

They asked us to leave so we did and went to another room. It was a trap of some sort but with the assistance of the rogue we all escaped and as that was the last room we all went back to the surface. It is uncertain as to what we are going to do with the landshark but at least the city is safe for now.

Pathfinder - Ralen Bek

The day was started with a bit of debate amongst the group as we tried to determine where exactly to take our tribes for a capital. There were three choices that we knew of, an abandoned elven city, a human fortress that had been rebuilt three times due to the swamp, and a ship of some kind. It took some deciding but eventually we decided to go to the elven city.

The tribes set off and I chatted with the war minister, who apparently earned his position by being the only survivor of a platoon who killed something called a landshark. The dwarf tells me that they are also called bulette by some people. Clearly he deserves the position. On the way to the city we came across a detachment of the Imperial Army and increased our march as the elf and rogue determined that they were likely heading for the same city as we were.

We reached the city close to nightfall and easily got through the outer wall as it was full of holes that will have to be repaired. We determined that there were no easy ways through the inner wall and the rogue threw a grappling hook up. Surprisingly, he did not hit the wall but ended up hitting a halfling! The four of us lead the way to the top with another grappling hook and the elf healed up the halfling as he had a grappling hook in him. The halfling related to us the tale of his adventuring group and how something had killed the other three members of the group he had been in. Seeing no reason to delay we had the halfling lead us to where the attack had happened.

With some investigation of the site the cleric found some kind of elven undead in a house close by. The dwarf, rogue, and I followed the blood trail while the cleric went back with the halfling. It appeared that the blood trail lead to the central tower of the city. The rogue climbed up and dropped a rope for the dwarf to climb up. With my help the dwarf was able to get up as I extended the rope. A dirge became quite audible to us as we entered the tower and then the voice of the cleric reached us and so we decided to deal with the cleric first. The three of us descended and came into a throne room of some kind. The cleric was in the center of a horde of undead and with one burst of channeling energy there were only four undead left.

The four of us easily dealt with the elven undead left and the song became louder. The four undead that had been left started to slide together and assume a form of some bigger undead. At long last I summoned Sprinkles to aid me and had the other three go upstairs to deal with whoever was making the music while I dealt with this bigger undead. With Sprinkles at my side and the power of my abilities the undead was no match for me. I took Sprinkles up the tower then and reached the top. A trapdoor was pointed out to me that had a ladder of some kind going up to it which the rogue had accidentally broken and I took Sprinkles through it. We ended up in the face of some wizard who probably needed new pants then. The person playing the music appeared to be a spirit of some kind and when we told him of the undead we had killed he stop playing.

The wizard told us then of the undead still left in the city and as the spirit had left the dwarf tried to play some tune but utterly failed. The music he made was utterly terrible, so terrible in fact that even the undead hated it. All of the undead left in the city started to swarm towards the tower so offended were they. The four of us rested then, content in the knowledge that the undead would be there in the morning.

After some sleep we went down to the courtyard where the undead were attempting to get in with a very big undead. I summoned Sprinkles again and mounted him as the brute attempted to break down the door. The brute quickly broke down the door and the other three dealt with him and another undead with swords for arms while Sprinkles and I charged at an undead with no face. The faceless being used some sort of magic to take over Sprinkles but not I so it died easily with a few strikes. The fourth super undead was easily dealt with by Sprinkles and the rogue with a few more blows and then we enjoyed a bit of rest as we waited for the army detachment to show up. When they did I negotiated a treaty that gave us control of the city and the swamp land in general. Plans were discussed with expansion to the south and maybe the east.

There are many matters to consider now that we have a serious settlement established and apparently another five thousand goblins coming.

Pathfinder - Ralen Bek

Despite the fact that we were told this task would be difficult, we encountered no such thing. There were some minor problems with some kind of monster, a catoblepas I think. It does not matter really as it died quite fast due to an attack by the rogue. The farm of the ogre druid was quite easy to find. This is probably due to the fact that the ogres were expecting more goblins and had been experiencing no problems with them.

I kicked down the unlocked gate as the rogue sneaked over the fence and so drew the attention of a boar with some gourds that grant the ability to breathe fire to those who consume it. We calmed it, took the gourds from it, and then killed it. The dwarf then stated his desire to ride every animal that was present. He succeeded at this.

We sent the rogue to scout out the place and he returned with news of a ferret, an owlbear, and the two ogres we knew to be there. We quite simply walked up to the house then, and killed the owlbear with some difficulty. The fight with the owlbear drew the attention of one of the ogres and the ferret. The dwarf, true to his word, rode the ferret while I killed the ogre with ease. Sidenote: the dwarf also rode the owlbear.

We all went into the house then and examined the first level. The elf threw up when he opened the door to what appeared to be the younger ogre’s room. The rogue and I ascended to the second floor, the floor with the ogre we had been sent to kill. The rogue struck first and then I smote him, cutting the ogre in half with one strike. We grabbed his items and then left the house so that we could set it on fire. I acquired a flaming spear and an elk skull mask with one antler. The rogue took some new armor while the cleric took an amulet of natural armor and the dwarf took some more of the fire gourds along with the owlbear pelt, some gold, and a stuffed dire corby.

We went back to the tribe then and I decided to call a moot of the local goblin tribes. I was told it would take a few days and so I sent out a call for assistance to my god. A few paladins arrived some days later along with the goblins tribes. and we had talks. I pointed out how if the tribes worked together that they would present a stronger threat to those who threaten them, like ogres or humans or giants. I also pointed out that they would be a stronger economic force and that the quality of life that they all had would increase. It took a decent speech but I managed to get the tribes to assemble themselves into a confederation with each tribes leader getting a vote on important matters.

I wonder how long this confederation will last. Perhaps I will use it to depose the deranged god that the dwarf helped put into power.

Pathfinder - Ralen Bek

The calamity continues. We watched the city come down hard, destroying a significant amount of land in the process. Can’t say that I particularly care as it was in the area trying to start a war. Needless to say we left quickly, heading into the mountains away from where the city had crashed. This was also the direction that the city we needed to return the ambassador to was in.

Some giants, goblins, and wolves were encountered on the way back, all of which were easily dealt with in various manners. We also acquired another member for the group, an ifrit sorcerer. The return to the city was very awkward as it appeared that the ambassador had been written off as dead by the local power and a burial was taking place when we arrived. We got paid but a war might be in the works still. Who knows? At least then the war would a better reason for occurring.

We accepted another job then, this one from a goblin to deal with an ogre mage of some sort. I figure this will be an easy job as I have dealt with one of these before. We split up then to whittle away the time until we left the next day. I went off and had tea at the local mages academy. The cleric and fighter went off to deal with some thieves while the rogue and cleric went off to deal with some revenge for the cleric as he had been swindled by a local shopkeeper.

I set off the next morning with the rogue and the sorcerer while the fighter and cleric dealt with some leftover business. A fight of honor of some kind I believe. They caught up and we reached the goblin village by the end of the day. We were given a place to rest and then we were put through a series of test to become a chieftain for the tribe the next day. The first test was a blind arrow shoot at birds which none of us did well at. The next test was one of balance and killing stirges. The rogue did the best at this naturally. The final test was being placed in a pie with the tasks to kill four birds and/or escape. I killed all the birds and thus, have become chief of this tribe.

We split up the treasure in the chieftain’s chest. We will go deal with this ogre next I think. I have no idea what happens after this with the tribe.

Pathfinder- Ralen Bek

Calamity has befallen me. As I traveled along the roads I found myself shift through realms and in the process lost a bit of the power that my god had given me. I find myself unable to cast spells or to summon Sprinkles, my horse, once more. I do not know how it happened but I ended up in a city that had recently undergone a religious revolt in the name of some serpent god.

I found myself conversing with the king of the nation state when out of nowhere a dwarf rocketed through one of the windows and demanded something from the king. This was quickly followed by a catfolk rubbing his hair. I do not understand that. The dwarf got what he wanted but had to pay for it and then rocketed out of the room through another window. I accepted a quest and went off on my way, only to find that the dwarf and catfolk were with me now.

I have been tasked along with the fighter and rogue to rescue a diplomat from a city built atop five dragons. This will be an interesting task. We decided to go stock up on magical items and so went shopping for a little bit. I acquired gauntlets of the merciful knight so that I could lay on hands more. After I bought the gauntlets a voice spoke to me and asked for help. It appeared that this fellow was stuck in hell and I assisted him in escaping with the purchase of some demon’s blood to make a portal. A devil tried to come up with the elf but the fighter dropped a crate on it so it fell back down. Apparently this elf fellow jumped into hell to kill a demon so that the rest of the party would survive and won.

That little fiasco done we went to sleep and the next day took a balloon up to the city. We were asked to undergo a test there and all but the cleric complied. The test was to fly through a cloud. A bolt of lightning tried to strike me, a cloud snake flew around the rogue, and the clouds turned red for the fighter. I do not trust the dwarf very much due to this and later actions. All but the cleric moved along to the next part of the city. We examined several magical shops and then were about to move on to the next part of the city when it became apparent that the cleric had snuck into the city through some means. The guards were less than happy about this and attempted to arrest him. The elf managed to talk his way out of it and then joined us on the way to the next part of the city.

At the next portion of the city I blessed a priest of the local religion and then moved on to find some tea. I did find some tea and had some with the local prophet along with the elf who I had rescued from Hell. The dwarf joined us and we conversed on several matters then the prophet asked us to bring the rogue to the hall. We all agreed we had no idea where the rogue was and so the Prophet used a magic staff to ascertain his location. We all followed and it appeared that the rogue had found the missing ambassador. The ambassador was again detained and the four of us were lead back to the hall to have more tea.

Everything was amicable until one of the city’s constructs returned from raiding. This construct had been accidentally activated by the dwarf and the Prophet was less than pleased to see this. Hostilities broke out and I slew the Prophet while the rest of the group dealt with the guards. It quickly became apparent then that the Prophet had been the one keeping the city organized and the dragons under control as the city started to plummet.

We found the ambassador quickly and then the rogue and the ambassador jumped, their safety ascertained with a cloak of gliding. I followed, having been given that ability to fly by my Celestial Armor. The dwarf apparently summoned a demon of sorts and was hurtled off the city at an extremely high speed. The elf took an escape eagle.

The rogue noticed that the dwarf flying at extremely high speeds was not normal and attempted to intercept the fighter. He was successful in this and apparently stopped the dwarf from killing the ambassador but could not escape the grasp of the dwarf then. The two of them made a decent sized crater in the ground. I arrived then and punched the dwarf into unconsciousness before the cleric and I healed the rogue.

We are now stuck out here in the wilderness with no idea where we are. What an adventure.

Pathfinder- Ralen Bek

Day 20

Today was a busy day. We awoke and consulted our list of suspects and then went off to find the one that struck us as the most odd, an elf that the guild had no information on. Despite this lack of information, we quickly found him in an apartment in the noble district and after a very heated conversation with the gnome landlady and her pet owlbear we acquired access to his room.

Sadly, he was not our suspect despite the numerous maps and artifacts that he had in his possession that pointed towards a lifestyle of assassins. We let him go as it was quite easy to see he wasn’t responsible and then moved on to the mages college to make sure that whoever was going to be assassinated would stay alive. We contacted the one we felt most likely to be the target and then gathered the ones least able to defend themselves. As nothing was happening we sat down for some food and waited for this killer to emerge.

Naturally, our presence set everything awry and some beast escaped from its cage in the labs. The rest of the group went to deal with while I looked after our bait and they came back up pretty fast. We quickly left the building along with most of the mages college and watched it as the place got destroyed. The rest of the group informed me that they did not do it.

We headed back to the guild then and after some consulting with the leaders, went off to find another suspicious person. Kroze started a riot on the docks and we watched a prince get his money stolen from him. We also found the explosives expert we had set off to find and returned him to the guild. He was not responsible but he was able to point the way to a group who had been looking for someone to take the job. We convened with the leaders about this group and then called in the guard to assist us with their capture.

We set off for the house that this group was at and quickly forced our way inside. Several guardsmen died due to magical traps but we eventually got our way into the hidden areas of the place. We discovered then that the group was fleeing and so Sol went massive and chased down one of the groups with Kroze at his side. I confiscated some tomes that were present in the house and went off to meet them.
We took the leader of the assassins with us back to the guild hall and were enjoying a fine dinner when one of the leaders went down, dead due to poison, a very fast acting one at that. The hall was quickly locked down and we went about investigating, only to find that there was a being of chaos from the negative energy plane present. I drew up a protective circle around the main group while the rest of the group looked for something useful.

Sol acquired an upgrade to his eye that allowed him to see planar people and it was soon apparent that much of the group that was not us was possessed. I used a holy device that Kroze had found and seared many with holy light but that was not enough so I broke the device and an angel appeared. A low ranking one mind you but an angel none the less. Said angel took one look at the main focus of the possession and charged. It quickly lost that fight and so Sol and I took over while Kroze healed the angel in some way. Shortly after that, we drove the being from the body it was possessing and the angel struck out again while Kroze handed me the device that had held the angel. I quickly used it to seal away the chaos being and then it was over. Most of the guild was dead and so when given the choice, Sol, Kroze, and Zaraki opted to leave while they could. They shook down the place a bit, taking a few magic items with them and then we left, only to confront a massive crowd outside. We quickly decided to leave the city and the entire empire for other lands only to have Kroze draw a card from the deck of many things he had picked up. A dragon appeared and then he dropped the rest of the cards only to have them all activate.

We were all transported than to the realm between realms I believe. We all went our separate ways to talk to someone and I would up with my god. He thanked me for all I had done and then gave me a gift of a halo to forever light my way and keep me alive. The others got gifts as well I believe though I know not what they are. We were transported then back to the spot that we had left and found that the dragon was still there. Kroze quickly charmed it and ordered it to leave and then we went on our way to the east.
